Mark Smith was delighted to be invited by Sadler’s Wells Theatre, to create and present DMD’s new work Hear! Hear! at =dance (an all year- round programme of work featuring some long- standing partners and others new to Sadler’s Wells’ stages).

Hear! Hear! was developed at the Integrated ChoreoLab where in 2014, Mark was one of the three artists selected to participate and develop new work with creative collaborators. DMD developed exciting new work with two collaborators- Caroline Parker MBE by incorporating deaf actress/sign-song performer’s unique style of signing into DMD’s choreography and Deafboyone by incorporating deaf songwriter’s songs about the personal experience of being deaf and suffering with tinnitus into DMD’s work. Through the development of the new work with the collaborators, DMD has now moved onto new level with many exciting new ideas. DMD performed the work-in-progress at The Integrated Dance Summit in Bournemouth in front of invited professional industry audience, who liked the work and gave positive feedback.
